Presidential hopeful draws Jewish ire for stating the obvious
No big accomplishment, since all he has to do is tell the truth.
Former Wisconsin governor and Republican presidential hopeful Tommy Thompson told Jewish activists Monday that making money is "part of the Jewish tradition," and something that he applauded.
Speaking to an audience at the Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism in Washington D.C., Thompson said that, "I'm in the private sector and for the first time in my life I'm earning money. You know that's sort of part of the Jewish tradition and I do not find anything wrong with that."
Thompson later apologized for the comments that had caused a stir in the audience, saying that he had meant it as a compliment, and had only wanted to highlight the "accomplishments" of the Jewish religion.
"I just want to clarify something because I didn't [by] any means want to infer or imply anything about Jews and finances and things," he said.
"What I was referring to, ladies and gentlemen, is the accomplishments of the Jewish religion. You've been outstanding business people and I compliment you for that."
Thompson left public office in 2005, having served four terms as Wisconsin governor and later as President George W. Bush's Health and Human Services Secretary. He announced his candidacy for the Republican presidential nomination at the start of April.
It's now unofficially over.
But, who can blame him? After all, it's common knowledge that Jews "just happen" to control most of the money in politics.
The Great Jewish Hope is that the liberal Jewish money in the political process will separate itself from hawkish Jewish money. Steve Rabinowitz, a Democratic consultant in DC, describes the potential pool: "AIPAC is enormous in terms of influence, in terms of guiding the money. The numbers are gigantic...whether you support them or not, you have to be awed by the success when you see it in action. And yet I think there is even more Jewish money that is not AIPAC affected, affiliated, just because there is so damn much money that happens to be Jewish."
In fact, "Jewish" money is so influential in politics that some people consider it IMPOSSIBLE to influence politics without them on board.
"There's a strong sentiment on the left that says, Forget about the Jewish community, they don't listen," says Plitnick. "But politically that's impossible. I don't think we'll be able to stem the influence of AIPAC without Jews taking a major leadership role in doing that."
But, while stating the obvious is sometimes helpful, understanding the CAUSE is key.
Why does "SO DAMN MUCH MONEY" just happen to be Jewish???
Is it because making money is a Jewish tradition, like that idiot Thompson blurted out? Or is there something less coincidental behind it?
WHY must Americans rely on political funding from one group of people to save them from the political shenanigans of the SAME group of people???
And perhaps, more importantly, how will it ever work, since both "liberal" and "conservative" Jews are equally ZIONIST?
NOTHING will ever change in America unless and until campaign financing is reformed (i.e., 'lobbying' is abolished) and control over OUR MONETARY SYSTEM is returned to the PEOPLE.
It not 'the Jews,' stupid - it's the SYSTEM!
