In a related development, a group of 18 officials from Asia, Europe, Africa and Latin America will go to Israel on Monday for a weeklong tour and high-level meetings.  Some countries represented are likely candidates to either vote against, or abstain, when Palestinian statehood comes before the UN in September.

On the night of June 20th, AIPAC shared with President Obama $1.5 million in campaign donations.  He was truly grateful. What I am going to write here is controversial and may come as a surprise. I hope you will consider my argument with an open mind. Rather than bowing to Jewish chiliastic fantasies and singing praises to them, and instead of demonizing Arab people and Muslims as a whole as if they were subhumans unworthy of our love and forgiveness, Christians should instead be preaching the resurrected Christ to them. Meanwhile, true patriotic, freedom-loving right-wing conservatives should return to minding their own national affairs, and pursuing the interests of their own people rather than those of powerful lobbies, including the likes of AIPAC.

There was no information that the Obama regime has quietly given Netanyahu a green light to attack the ship. But I strongly expect they will; by deniable means, of course.

Former Sen. Rick Santorum (R-Pa.) is an appealing candidate to many conservatives, but he has does have a dark side.  In 2003, Santorum planned to introduce “ideological diversity” legislation that would cut federal funding for American universities found to be permitting professors, students and student organizations to openly criticize Israel. Santorum considered criticism of Israel to be “anti-Semitism.”

The latest outrage came from an unexpected source—the group organizing an anti-AIPAC meeting in Washington, D.C. Helen was invited to speak to the group, which was preparing a counter-conference during the annual AIPAC funfest in Washington...Helen was first invited to the anti-AIPAC meeting, then was ceremoniously “disinvited” on grounds that she would be a “distraction.”  Medea Benjamin, a Jewish spokesperson for the event:  “Some within the coalition think that her remarks were anti-Semitic and condemned what she said."

A series of anti-Israel protests, lectures and meetings are scheduled to coincide with the PM's visit and the AIPAC conference in Washington DC in May.

It would have been difficult for an attendee at AIPAC’s annual membership event in Oakland to not see that there was serious dissent to their celebration of support for policies of occupation and war at their annual membership event at the ritzy Marriot Hotel...Inside the hotel, AIPAC guests were treated to a flash mob performance protesting AIPAC’s continued role in supporting US/Israeli policies of war and occupation that ended with the arrest of seven participants on charges of trespassing.
