Working to preserve the identity and heritage of Catholics of Jewish origin within the Church, to enable them to serve the Lord and all people within the mystery of their irrevocable calling. Our goal is to preserve the identity and heritage of Israelites within the Catholic Church, through the establishment of a Hebrew Catholic Community juridically approved by the Holy See.

Archbishop Wilton D. Gregory of Atlanta has been named Moderator of Jewish Affairs for the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB), succeeding Archbishop Timothy M. Dolan of New York, newly elected USCCB president, in that role.
At an interfaith luncheon in Atlanta last year, Archbishop Gregory acknowledged how much the Catholic Church borrows from Jewish worship in her liturgy. “From the communal table meal to the proclamation of the Scripture, these are necessary and important components of Catholic prayer life. The Israeli embassy in Madrid is "hurt" and "offended!" How touching... It's okay for Israelis to kill everyday, to spit on Christians, to kidnap people and harvest their organs, to arrest and jail children, to use illegal weapons, to impose an illegal siege on a million and a half people in Gaza, to occupy Palestine, Syria and Lebanon and to threaten more war and occupation everyday..

What is happening? Surely you are going to hear all kinds of explanations from all kinds of people. Their explanations will be generated from various perspectives, depending on how people sort their information and depending on their concept of reality. It is what we think is real that has a lot to do with how we formulate our understandings. The irony here is that none of us know what is real but some of us are closer to the mark than others. You’ll have to be the judge of who that is and in time, things will play out and you can compare events to what you’ve been told.

Pope Benedict XVI’s personal preacher the Rev. Raniero Cantalamessa’s recent comparison between scrutiny over clerical abuse and collective violence suffered by Jews was “highly inappropriate” and “not responsible,” and its nature and timing were a reminder of “both the unique significance of the Catholic-Jewish relationship and its fragility,” B’nai B’rith International’s director of United Nations and Intercommunal Affairs, David J. Michaels, told The Jerusalem Post on Sunday.
