As of this writing, there have been four attacks on U.S. embassies: one in Libya; one in Yemen; and two in Egypt. The Taliban in Afghanistan has called for "revenge" on U.S. soldiers.
Casualty accounts are fluctuating, but it seems at least four Americans are dead and two dozen injured.

Following US news media coverage of the Burgas, Bulgaria bombing, one would conclude that the Hezbollah provenance of the attack can be determined from recent alleged Hezbollah terrorist plotting against Israelis in Cyprus and elsewhere. The New York Times quotes anonymous US officials as saying the Burgas attack bears "all the hallmarks" of "the Hezbollah plots, including the arrest in Cyprus earlier this month of a suspected operative on the suspicion of scheming to kill Israeli tourists."

Immediately after the terror bombing of a busload of Israeli youth in Burgas, Bulgaria, both Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and a "senior U.S. official" expressed certainty about Iran's responsibility. Since then, the White House has backed away from that position, after Bulgarian investigators warned against that assumption before the investigation is complete.

Israel yesterday fuelled fears of a further escalation in the already high tensions with Iran by promising to "exact a heavy price" from the perpetrators of the suicide bombing which killed seven people in Bulgaria, which it blamed unequivocally on Hezbollah.

After hearing the news of the bombing of an Israeli tourist bus at Burgas Airport and later news that a passport and driving license had apparently survived the blast intact, my curiousity was piqued and one question in particular came to mind. Who was responsible for security at the airport and was it the same company who managed the security at airports involved in 9/11 and the London Underground where many people lost their lives on 7/7?

A Syrian official said his country's forces might have thought the Turkish jet it downed last week was from Israel.
"As you know there is a country called Israel there and as you know this Zionism country's planes are very similar and because they both are from the same factory, from the U.S., maybe Syria thought it was an Israeli plane," Syrian Information Minister Omran Al Zubi told the Turkish A Haber channel on Wednesday.
Israel and Syria are longtime neighboring adversaries and don't have diplomatic relations.

Was Mohamed Merah a French secret service informant? So says a former head of an intelligence agency here in France. Also, an Italian paper says Merah travelled to Israel in 2010 - with the support of French spy agencies.

Merah legally owned 8 guns including an Uzi, a pump shotgun and a 45 caliber Colt. To register any gun in France is difficult. When one has 15 convictions as a juvenile, a visit to a radical Muslim training camp in Afghanistan, and membership on French and American terror watch lists, to register 8 guns is beyond incredible.
