Sacramento's carefully cultivated interfaith bonds are being stretched to the limit by an 86-year-old Holocaust survivor who is scheduled to speak at a local mosque about the Nazi Holocaust and Israel's treatment of Palestinians.  Auschwitz survivor Hajo Meyer makes the 11th stop on his national "Never Again for Anyone" tour at the Sacramento League of Associated Muslims Islamic Center at 7 p.m. tonight.

I didn’t expect to ever be that close, but after the Wednesday December 8th LA World Affairs Council event, at which the infamous DAF (Denier Abraham “Abe” Foxman) of the Anti-Defamation League spoke, we ended up in the same hotel elevator as I was chasing a parking validation.

DAF asked how I was, to which I replied I’d have been much better if his answers had been different, i.e. expressing a willingness to change.  Another gentleman in the elevator said that I had to admit he answered my question(s) well.  My retort: the response was disingenuous.

In a new project, the Yad Vashem Holocaust Memorial is offering seminars to Arab teachers, hoping to wrest contemporary Mideast politics from the historical events of the Holocaust.

They do not fear military power. They do not fear anti-Semitism -- on the contrary they feed on it.  They do not really fear denouncers of Holocaust exploitation -- the Norman Finkelsteins et al.
