Libya is the immediate opportunity. The Nato attack on Libya, with the UN Security Council assigned to mandate a bogus "no fly zone" to "protect civilians", is strikingly similar to the final destruction of Yugoslavia in 1999. There was no UN cover for the bombing of Serbia and the "rescue" of Kosovo, yet the propaganda echoes today. As the right-wing leadership of the organised US Jewish community defends Israel against international condemnation for its deadly seizure of a flotilla bearing humanitarian supplies for Gaza, a familiar clutch of neo-conservative hawks is going on the offensive against what they see as the flotilla's chief defender, Turkey.

Israel’s boarding and seizure of the Mavi Marmara, a Turkish ship in the Gaza Freedom Flotilla, has sparked debate and outrage world wide. Media, pundits, and politicians, despite a real lack of facts and hard information, have lept to alternately defend and condemn Israel, Turkey has withdrawn its ambassador, and Israel has urged sympathizers to its defense on internet forums.
