There’s much knowledge and folklore about hemp that’s been forgotten about. It used to be as prevalent as corn, wheat or bad TV shows. Thomas Tusser, 16th century author of Five Hundred Points of Good Husbandry, has some things to say about hemp in his couplets

CANVAS works closely with the International Center for Nonviolent Conflict (ICNC). Founded in 2002, the ICNC is funded entirely by Peter Ackerman who also chaired the board of Freedom House from 2005 until 2009.
Ackerman’s wealth derives from his time as special projects aide to junk bond king Michael Milken. Having successfully escaped “the stench of Drexel,” Ackerman completed what BusinessWeek called “an improbable transformation from junk-bond promoter back to scholar.”

Lifta to make way for Jewish holiday homes
Jonathan Cook reports on plans by Israel to demolish the Palestinian village of Lifta, near Jerusalem, in order to build holiday homes for wealthy foreign Jews and to erase for Israelis “all troubling reminders of an earlier Palestinian presence”.
On a rocky slope dropping steeply away from the busy main road at the entrance to West Jerusalem is to be found a scattering of ancient stone houses, empty and clinging precariously to terraces hewn from the hillside centuries ago.

Canadian Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird met this week with Libya’s National Transitional Council, the rebel organization claiming to be the “sole representative of all Libya", even though it represents less than half of Libya’s tribes. The group’s leadership is almost entirely elitist, Arab, pro-Western businessmen with American Ph.D.s. It has formed a central bank to act as monetary authority over a country it does not control and has made contracts with foreign governments for oil in rebel-held territories.

Last week we learned that Libyan leader Muammar Qaddafi had, in recent years, invested billions of dollars in oil revenues in several Western institutions, including Goldman Sachs. Today we're finding out exactly what Goldman bankers did with all that money. They lost it.

U.S. and European ruling circles focused on these funds, so that before carrying out a military attack on Libya to get their hands on its energy wealth, they took over the Libyan sovereign wealth funds.

In an interview on Fox News, potential Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump outlined his Iraq strategy to Bill O’Reilly.
“In the old days when you had wars, you win, right?” Trump began. “You win. To the victor belonged the spoils. So when we go to Iraq, we spend $1.4 trillion so far and thousands of lives are lost, right? … And we’re going to leave and 15 minutes after we leave, Iran is going to go into Iraq.”

Libya has been one of the last nations in the world that had its own state run banking system, and control over its own money supply. By having this system in place, they could demand oil purchases from their oil fields to be made in Libyan Dinar, and not the US Dollar. It also means that Libya has ensured themselves a stable economy, with little inflation and currency devaluing as most of the industrialized world has under private central banks.

The push for the privatization of Canada's immense hydro assets started at the Bilderberg 1996 conference. Canadian industrialst Maurice "carbon credits" Strong was a major force behind the push. Now comes Dana Levenson, Chicago's former Chief Financial Officer and present Managing Director - Head of Infrastructure Banking, Americas, of the Royal Bank of Scotland. Levenson was behind the privatization of a slew of Chicago assets. Privatization of Canada's hydro WILL raise energy prices to both US and Canadian energy consumers, and will result in price hikes on essential goods.

A US writer and radio host says that the country's killing of civilians in Afghanistan serves the purpose of public intimidation.
"Things go back, I believe, to World War II, to intimidate the opposition. We did it ruthlessly in Vietnam, and the most well-known Operation Phoenix, with the estimated number of civilians that we killed, numbered maybe 80,000. The number could have been doubled," he added.
He said the United States military presences in Iraq and Afghanistan is tantamount to war crime.

Five Palestinian families in the Jordan Valley, in the eastern part of the West Bank, received eviction orders from the Israeli military on Sunday, just days after Israeli settlers set up an illegal outpost on the families' land and took over a water well in the area. The eviction orders told the families to vacate their homes and land within ten days so that Israeli troops could occupy it.

Ireland: The Arrest of Pat O'Donnell
In a country with the kind of tumultuous history that Ireland has it's not surprising that a man being arrested and jailed for seven months would escape the notice of the media, at least outside of Ireland. What should hopefully pique some interest is that this is a man with a long history of being bullied, intimidated, arrested and treated roughly by the authorities for his nonviolent resistance against Shell Oil's construction of a gas pipeline, and now the judge is calling him a bully and jailing him for seven months on the extremely dubious charge of intimidating an officer.

The following questions elicit the same answer in each instance. No other country in the world conducts itself at home and in world affairs with such impunity as Israel. This raises the question, why does Israel get away with it time and time again while other countries are condemned and punished? It is time that we demand answers from are leaders and insist that Israel be held accountable for its breaches.
