More than 5,000 protesters staged on Sunday a massive anti-war protest against the Turkish government intervention against Syria in Antakya, capital of Turkey's eastern province of Hatay.
Protesters called on the government to stop the intervention against Syria and urged to stop providing aids to the military camps of Syrian freedom army in the border region between the two countries.
Shouting slogans like "Muslims are friends" and "We want peace, not war", the protesters walked along the street and drawed acclamation from many locals. "We want Turkey and Syria to be friends again. We want the Syrian militants outside of Turkey's territory."
Organized by the Turkey Workers Party, the protest called for the end of war and re-establishment of peace between Turkey and Syria.
Local residents joined the protest and complained that Turkey harbors Syrian militants or even terrorists in Hatay, which has caused social unrest to the local communities.
More than 2,000 policemen were deployed on the spot and claimed the protests illegal. They intervened the protests by firing tear gas while high-pressure canon vehicles driving the protesters away.
A few people were injured and some were arrested in the event.
Since the breaking out of the war, about 80,000 refugees have rushed to its neighbor of Turkey, mostly in Hatay province.

Re: Anti-War Protests Break out in Eastern Turkey
There are seven billion people on the planet, most of which think and act like a flock of birds, or a school of fish. Individuals follow the herd, with few people having more than a faint glimmer of awareness or consciousness.
For example, the world is so focused on Syria and Afghanistan that everyone forgot about the Green Resistance in Libya. Hence millions of people devise absurd guesses to “explain” the attack on the U.S. site in Benghazi.
Billions of people still believe in the Jewish holo-hoax. Or consider the article above from China Radio International, headquartered in Peking. Its author, like most of the world’s seven billion people, no longer mentions military attacks, or invasions, or occupations. No, in each nation’s respective language, all imperialist aggression, theft, and genocide is now an “intervention.” Soon the masses will no longer refer to World Wars I & II. Instead, the masses will refer to Intervention I & II. Back in 1945, the USA did not nuke Hiroshima or Nagasaki. Instead, the USA “intervened.” Israel’s 2006 bombardment of Lebanon was an “intervention.” When the USA gives the Syria treatment to Iran, this too will be an “intervention.”
Regardless of people’s political beliefs (left wing, right wing, or whatever), the masses use the vocabulary and thought processes dictated to them by the One Percent. And when the media outlets (owned by the One Percent) plant an idea in the mass mind, the idea is almost impossible to eradicate. For instance, we can explain to the masses how the word “intervention” is a bullshit euphemism for theft and murder, and yet the masses will continue to use the term “intervention.” They all use it. Right wing, left wing, it doesn't matter.
This is a function of power. If I personally kill someone, then it is still called “murder.” If the One Percent murder millions, then it is an “intervention.” If someone bombs my nation, it is a “savage attack.” If my nations bombs someone else, it is an “intervention.”
This herd mentality is the cause of perpetual wars and poverty.
