MORE THAN HALF of Irish voters are supportive of the EU-IMF bailout, a new opinion poll has suggested.

Figures published in today’s Irish Times, after a poll carried out by Ipsos MRBI, say 51% of the 1,000 voters asked were supportive of the €67.5bn funding package, which was given final approval by the Dáil on Wednesday.
37% of voters said they opposed the deal, while the remaining 12% were unsure of their stance.
A majority of voters agreed, however, that the poll had meant Ireland had to give up its sovereignty, with 56% of people believing Ireland had handed over control of some of its own affairs by accepting the deal. 33% of voters disagreed with that opinion.
The poll – carried out on Monday and Tuesday of last week – showed that Fianna Fáil voters were the most supportive of the deal, but that Fine Gael and Labour voters were also broadly in favour of the funding deal.
