Radioactive tea from Japan turns up in France

Radioactive tea from Japan detained in France

A consignment of radioactive tea from Japan was detained by customs officials in France. The cesium content exceeded the permitted norm twofold. Reportedly, the tea was en route from Shizuoka Prefecture, central Japan.

The consignment has been placed in quarantine and will soon be destroyed.

After the accident at Japan’s "Fukushima-1" NPP in March this year, this is the first case in France of radioactive products coming in from Japan.
