More than a dozen cases of narcolepsy linked to the swine flu vaccine Pandemrix have been diagnosed in Ireland.
The Irish Medicines Board says it has received 13 reports with clinical information of a chronic nervous system disorder in people vaccinated with Pandemrix.
The board has advised any concerned parents to contact their GP for advice and stresses that a definite link between the two has not yet been established.
Narcolepsy is a disabling condition which causes extreme drowsiness every three or four hours through the day and is also associated with muscle weakness, sleep paralysis and hallucinations.
