Turkey's parliament debates Syria strikes

Turkey's parliament is debating a bill to authorise the military to launch cross border operations in Syria.

An aide to the Turkish prime minister says Turkey has no intention of declaring war on Syria, amid reports it was firing on Syrian targets for a second day in retaliation for a deadly border village attack.

Turkey's parliament was on Thursday debating a bill to authorise the military to launch cross border operations in Syria, while Turkey resumed artillery shelling of Syrian targets near the border.

The bill to allow the operation "when deemed necessary", was drafted at an urgent cabinet meeting late on Wednesday.
