Update on UK campus occupations

The following is an update of the previous post Dissent Ain’t Dead, adding new occupations and resources.  There have been two new occupations today one at Manchester University and the other at Strathclyde University (an occupation involving two PULSE contributers).

University students used to be the avantgarde of political and social change and the fear of the establishment, but that is a long time ago as they have not done much since the 1960ies.

In later years students have been pretty complacent about social injustice etc. as long as they could fend for themselves and finish their studies fast to get generously salaried jobs in financial services.

Now as they realize that the banking industry is broke and its glamour was one big scam, they start to think that maybe society and concern for others has a value after all.

If there is anything good coming out of our economic misery, it may very well be that we wake up to reinvent ourselves as responsible individuals in a society that has values and goals.  It is high time to form alliances in society to fend off attacks by the evil one.

There has been no mention of this on the BBC.Try typing in "student/university protests/occupations" in their "news" search engine and all you get is old and non-relevant stuff.

I spit on the name of the BBC,and the "people" who work in such a squalid organisation.

Please Sir,can I have some more (soylent green)?
