SHELBURNE, Vt. – Peter Garritano thinks it's time for Vermont to call it quits with America.
The way the 54-year-old automobile salesman sees it, the "empire" is about to implode and tiny Vermont can lead the way by becoming its own independent republic. So he's running for lieutenant governor, topping a slate of secession-minded candidates seeking statewide offices this year.
Their name: Vermont Independence Day.
"The only hope is to just say, 'Look, this isn't working for us. We want to start fresh again, with a real democracy,'" Garritano said. "I think that's the answer. Hopefully, it won't take another horrible economic breakdown to realize that the people running things don't look out for the little guy, or us, or the soldiers. It's all about profit and getting the last drops of oil on Earth and trampling people's rights."
And we don't want any part of it!

10th Amendment gives every state the right to administer their state-sovereign affairs independent of the Federal government.
There are a few states that have declared state firearm rights supersede federal firearm laws with the passage of the act, begun by Montana to be followed by Tennessee, Utah, Wyoming, and more.
I consider California and New York failed states, for numerous reasons. The eventual collapse of these states might either inspire the lesson or compound the crisisto spread the error nationwide.
Federal government have no just reason to further meddle in state affairs, such as the right to secede, because such action indicate Federal government exceeds Constitutional authority leading to wholesale tyranny led by bureaucratic jackbooted thugs with machine guns.
Ruby Ridge and Waco incidents are obvious examples that the Fed can and will exert its dangerous and tyrannical intentions that will eviscerate the U.S. Constitution.
Precisely the reason for the existence of 2nd Amendment, unless repealed in abolishment by corrupt-to-the-core politicians and 'Communist' states.
Jews despise freedom, and because they have certain major states and Federal government under control, they seek to destroy the remnants of life, liberty, property, and happiness through overbearing and unreasonable bureaucracy.
..and it definitely won't be the last!
There are three States that came into the Union as functioning Republics:
Vermont, Texas, and California.
All three were brought in with reversion provisions in their charters.
