One month before the 9/11 attacks, the influential Time Magazine published an article about Putin's connections with Russian crime syndicates. Just one month later, after the terrorist attacks, the same magazine would call the Russian president "a reliable friend and partner of the United States".
What made Russia and the US into allies was Putin's telephone call to President Bush just 30 minutes after the 9/11tragedy. Had Putin been sitting near his telephone and waiting for the right time?
So, who won from the 9/11 terrorist attacks? Afghan Taliban? Western democracies? Perhaps, Saddam Hussein, who is on trial now? Only one political force - Putin and his KGB - benefits from international terrorism, both inside and outside Russia. After the 9/11 attacks and following anti-terrorist hysteria, the KGB re-gained its power at home and influence at the internaional stage, not to mention the sky-high oil prices.
Long ago, Sudoplatov has revealed that the Middle East terrorism was part of the KGB's "oil war" against the West. This war is still going on.
These days, Russian special services organised another performance, with their own diplomats being taken hostages in Iraq and the terrorists demanding Russia to withdraw from Chechnya immediately. In addition, it is said that the same hostage-takers also captured two American soldiers.
The Russian media immediately promoted the Iraqi terorists' demands all over the world. The quesion is: why did the same media remained silent when a similar demand - to stop the war in Chechnya - was made by the hostage-takers in Beslan school? What is the diference?
Oddly enough, underdeveloped Russia is now a member of the G7 forum of the most economically developed democracies. Furthermore, the Chechens' hangman Putin is now its chairman. On the eve of the summit, he desperately needs to show himself as a victim of internaional terrorism. Undoubtedly, the agents of Russian special services in Iraq organise these provocations exactly for this purpose.
Let me remind some statements of Russian officials which were made just after the 9/11 attacks.
"Four of the terrorists who piloted the planes for the terrorist attacks in the US had paticipated in military activities in Chechnya, says Sergey Yastrzhembsky, Russian president's aide. According to Mr. Yastrzhembsky, the people who sent the terrorists to attack the sky-scrapers had trained them on the basis of Chechen rebels' experience. The Russian side has already sent the proofs of that to US special services."

Where are all these Sheharezada characters, invented and promoted so well by Lubyanka and the Kremlin?
And, after that, how should we accept another lies of Rusian propaganda about Chechen Resistance's connections to "world terrorism"?

apossumprincess, you are right to point out the dubious nature of the source. The word of Litvinenko was about as reliable as that of his former master, the thieving Berezovsky. This article and many others like it are all part of a concerted effort to undermine Russia's resurgent independence, renewed power and increased prosperity.

Here's something I wrote earlier on the Litvinenko assassination. Those who did 9/11 were Israeli / North American-based Zionists who control the msm and the Mossad, and they don't appear to be on the same side as Putin:
On November 23, 2006, Alexander Litvinenko died as a result of ingesting polonium-210, a very strong alpha emitter. The element's abundance in the Earth's crust is only about 1 in 10^15. He had been deliberately poisoned on November 1, 2006, at the Pine Bar of the Millennium Hotel, Mayfair, London. The Zionist mainstream media blamed Litvinenko's assassination on Russian president Vladimir Putin, who had no motive for the crime. The killing of a single critic would be of dubious benefit, and heavily outweighed by negative publicity. And why not use a more tried and tested - and economical - method such as a "suicide" or a shooting that does not leave an obvious trail back to the perpetrator? On the other hand, Zionists, Israel, and oligarchs who plundered and fled Russia had several powerful motives for an assassination and deliberately depositing a radioactive trail around the globe. A state nearly the size of New Jersey, with a long history of conducting operations to foment conflict and hatred for political gain, that had been created in 1948 as a consequence of the actions of a Mafia that had carried out the very same strategy for centuries, would be a more logical suspect.

Zionists hope to progress to the next phase, which would involve "dirty bomb" scares. British police are to purchase 12,000 chemical biological radiological and nuclear protective suits, and MI5 has tried to make out there is a threat from "bin Laden".
On October 18, 2006, when Ehud Olmert was on a visit to Russia to try to tell Putin what he should do about Iran, Putin not only refused to listen to the 'advice', but made a joke along the lines of Israel's president Moshe Katsav having the strength to "rape ten women". The amount of interest this generated can be seen in the fact that "putin" was the top gaining Google search in the last week of October, just before Litvinenko's poisoning. Or maybe some of the searches were Zionists trying to see what they could pin on Putin - pedophilia, corruption, etc.
Israel would have been well aware of the effects of polonium-210 ingestion, as they evidently had an accidental release at the Weizmann Institute in 1957. A student was killed within a month, and three professors died prematurely (see second half of page at this link). Zionists had the means to obtain polonium.
The Jewish oligarchs (Berezovsky, Nevzlin, etc) want to poison relations between Russia and the UK as an additional reason (apart from having the politicians in their pocket) to prevent an extradition treaty (in 2005, Nevzlin was already wanted by Russia for ordering the killing of 10 Russians), and Netanyahu and the Zionist Mafia want to move forward with the war on terror. Putin's joke about Katsav would have helped the hawks sell their proposal to Israeli moderates. After the assassination operation, then in its fledgling stage with low levels of contamination being spread around the globe, was officially sanctioned, the Zionist media would prove only too happy to oblige with stories about Putin being the culprit. Zionists then have another sword with which to force presidents and prime ministers to accede to their demands. Their puppets don't want to find themselves accused of killing their political opponents; neither do they want to suffer a slow death by poisoning.
In early December, the Israeli secret services went to London to "render assistance" in the case. Thirty Israeli "tourists" had been either staying at the Millennium Mayfair Hotel, or visiting the bar or restaurant, at around the time of Litvinenko's poisoning. Subsequent tests at Israel's Ministry of Health found that all of these Israelis were free of radiation contamination.
If Litvinenko, Kovtun and Lugovoi were couriers in a nuclear smuggling business, Israel could have decided to exploit this and orchestrated the poisoning after arranging for Kovtun and Lugovoi to contaminate sites, leaving low-level Po-210 traces in the last two weeks of October. Kovtun and Lugovoi, unable to admit to their role, would have to say they were framed for the poisoning. Or the three could have been offered smuggling jobs, in the preliminary part of Operation Polonium Putin.
Litvinenko died my brother. He embraced Islam. And that forbids me from sharing your noble sentiments regarding him, possum.
Does Berezovsky have Israeli citizenship? I understand he is a Christian, and if I'm not mistaken, Jews who convert to Christianity relinquish their right to Israeli citizenship.

The fact that you appear to think that Litvinenko, someone who has been up to his neck in organised crime for at least a decade and who played his part in the Zionist plunder of Russia during the Yeltsin years is suddenly a good guy because he (apparently) converted to Islam is about as shallow as you can get. Cardinal Casaroli told his audience that Pope Paul VI has once asked- - as if in an examination of conscience-- whether the Holy See was failing to enact the Gospel message in dealing with the Communist world. The former Secretary of State said that by temperament, Paul VI was more inclined to denounce Communist injustice and oppression, especially insofar as the Church herself was a victim. However, he said, the former Pontiff was eventually persuaded that the Holy See could do a service to the cause of peace by quiet diplomacy, even while the Church was enduring great sacrifices behind the Iron Curtain.
Nevertheless, continued Cardinal Casaroli, Pope Paul VI remained torn by doubts about the "ostpolitik" approach-- particularly because some of his advisers consistently recommended a more aggressive challenge to Communist power. Cardinal Casaroli-- who is generally regarded as one of the most influential proponents of "ostpolitik" argued that it was necessary "through a severe and dispassionate critique, to determine whether the good of the Church and of souls" was better served by changing Vatican policy, or staying the course.
The cardinal was able to convince Pope Paul to stay with his policy, in part because, he recalled, "During the 1960s and 1970s the Communist world seemed like an invincible colossus." At the same time, he claimed, he could see the signs of decay within the system, although he did not anticipate its rapid collapse. Peace
