If dad, by himself, or mom and dad together, can’t generate enough income to make ends meet, they tend to divorce. And what is the single biggest source of financial stress in our lives? Taxes. We pay about 55% ( maybe more ) of our gross income to local, state and federal taxes. That’s over half of our income. We spend more on taxes than we do on food, clothing, shelter, transportation, medical care and everything else. Thus, insofar as financial stress is the primary cause for divorce ( and all the resulting social chaos ), then our incredibly high tax burden (and the government that imposes that burden) is the principle cause for American divorce.
