HuffPost shills for Rahm Emanuel

Under The Radar Media

The damage control team for Rahm Emanuel has been assembled since the moment he was appointed, beginning with a television media blitz that attempted to shape his mainstream public image. However online where the public is a bit more astute, Emauel's image is a total disaster. Enter James Zogby: Rahm Emanuel's left gatekeeper.

James Zogby is a leading figure in some of the most influential Arab American civil rights organizations in the United States and a member of the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR), "a Nonpartisan Resource for Information and Analysis." His brother John Zoby is president and CEO of Zogby International, a polling firm known for both phone polling and interactive, Internet-based polling.

As a key figure in liberal political circles for decades, James Zogby is one of the premier propagandist for the American and Arab intelligentsia. Along with his connections to the still forming CFR-run Obama Administration, as well as the Arab world, Zogby is an obvious choice to ease well meaning liberals' concerns over Emanual's controversial appointee as Obama's White House Chief of Staff.

In his November 14, 2008 blog entry, Rahm Emanuel and Arab Perceptions, Zogby does his best but fails miserably at spinning Rahm Emanuel's sketchy history in American politics. Zogby begins his case by attempting to frame the issue of Emanuel's appointment to the Obama Administration as an primarily an Arab concern. He writes:

"On November 5th, my office sent an email to tens of thousands of our members and contacts congratulating President-elect Barack Obama. In our message, we noted the historic transformation his victory represented and commended the thousands of Arab Americans who participated in this winning campaign. The initial and near universal response was heartwarming, with many sharing moving anecdotes of their campaign experiences, their reactions to the victory, and their hopes for change.

One day and one announcement later, the tide turned.

With the naming of Congressman Rahm Emanuel as Obama's White House Chief of Staff, for some, not all, the euphoria turned to despair. The emails and calls to my office were both troubled and troubling..."

Never does he mention all of the other groups who are skeptical of Rahm Emanuel including Obama's black constituents, the worldwide anti war and peace movements, the worldwide anti-Zionist movement, the Armenian community (still slighted over Congress refusing to recognize the Armenian Holocaust), America's pro-2nd Amendment community, civil liberties organizations, and finally Democrats and Republicans alike who feel that Emanuel is too much of a partisan DC insider.

Now that is a lot of people; surely no small minority.

Zogby continues to be intellectually dishonest by attempting to obscure known facts about Emanuel starting with his service with the Israeli Defense Force (IDF). Zogby maintains that Emanuel only volunteered as a civilian for a few weeks, doing maintenance on Israeli vehicles. While that may or may not be true (we don't know because he doesn't sight his sources) it is still service whether compulsory or voluntary. Furthermore, Zogby never addresses the fact that Emanuel never served or volunteered for the US Armed Services during a time of war.

Zogby then dismisses an accusation that Rahm Emanuel may be a Mossad asset that was used to penetrate the White House in order to spy on the Clinton Administration. According to The New Federalist, mainstream sources such as the Washington Post did indeed report that an organized spy ring did in fact penetrate the White House before and during the President Clinton/Monica Lewinski scandal. There was even a mainstream book entitled Gideon Spies: The Secret History of the Mossad, written by a former reporter for Britain's Daily Express Gordon Thomas, lends further credence to a conspiracy by the Mossad and foreign intelligence. So with that said, can it really be a stretch that Emanuel is an intelligence asset of a foreign government?

Zogby, whether for reasons of limited space at his blog or simply by pure laziness, addresses none of these facts. Finally, and most ironically, Zogby does his best Abraham Foxman impersonation and accuses American Arabs of antisemitic canards for their criticisms of Emanuel and his father, a former Israeli terrorist.

So James Zogby, it has not gone unnoticed that your entire article is a canard, and if the Arabs had a translation of the term "uncle Tom," you would most certainly fit the bill. Thanks to Rownen Berkeley at Wake Up From Your Slumber.

Occasionally I have found useful things there, like the Zogby defense of Rahm, but that's about it. The girlie pics are disgustingly manipulative.

Zogby says that Rahm doesn't have dual citizenship

Some charged that Emanuel was an Israeli citizen or a dual US-Israeli national (he is neither, he was born in Chicago in 1959)

and Rahm's Wikipedia page claims that he did have Israeli citizenship until he relinquished it at 18, but cites this Fux News article as its source.

But this article by Victor Thorn says:

Rahm Emanuel, nicknamed “Rahmbo,” is a pro- Israel Orthodox Jew who was educated in a Talmudic yeshiva and served as a volunteer in the Israeli Defense Force (IDF). He is a dual citizen of Israel, which his office refused to deny when AFP inquired. Israel is the only nation where Americans can apply for and obtain citizenship without automatically renouncing U.S. citizenship.

Zogby also says

A few accused Emanuel of skipping US military service to join the IDF in 1991 (also not true — in the midst of the 1991 Gulf War, while US forces were manning Patriot missile batteries in Israel and the Arab Gulf, Emanuel volunteered for a few weeks, as a civilian, doing maintenance on Israeli vehicles).

He makes out that Rahm served in Israel with the U.S. forces as part of a Patriot missile defense operation carried out there during the Gulf War, but that's not true. Whether or not he actually joined the Israeli army is not clear, but he volunteered his services to the IDF, where he supposedly worked on IDF vehicles. Even his revised Wikipedia page admits it:

He did not serve in the Israeli army, but was a civilian volunteer assisting the Israel Defense Forces for a short time during the 1991 Gulf War, repairing truck brakes in one of Israel's northern bases.[28][29]

Zogby is clearly being disingenuous.

Maybe, when they identified themselves as American Free Press, Rahm's office simply hung up on them.

I can cite YNet.

US Congressman Rahm Emanuel, who served as Clinton's adviser after volunteering for IDF service during Gulf War, may be appointed chief of staff if Democratic presidential candidate wins elections

Congressman Rahm Emanuel, who has served in the Israel Defense Forces and even speaks a little Hebrew, could be appointed the White House's next chief of staff.

Haaretz says:

Rahm Emanuel was selected for his political skills and experience, not his background. But he is still unabashedly Jewish in every way, doing nothing to hide his family and personal ties to Israel.

He served as an Israel Defense Forces volunteer not once, but twice.

John Walsh makes a good point here:

Second, during the 1991 Gulf War, Emanuel was a civilian volunteer in Israel, "rust-proofing brakes on an army base in northern Israel." (Wikipedia, New Republic).

(The old Wiki entry, before it was revised.)

This is peculiar on two counts. Here the U.S. goes to war with Iraq, but Emanuel, a U.S. citizen, volunteers not for his country, but for Israel. Moreover, here is a well-connected Illinois political figure with a father who had been in the Irgun, but he is assigned to "rust-proof brakes" on "an army base." Maybe.

Or maybe he scooted off to work for Israeli intelligence.

Of Israeli origin, he obtained the United-Stator nationality at the age of 18. As a volunteer engaged during Desert Storm operation ( 1991 ), Rahm Emanuel (then 32-years old) has served for Israel defence against a possible Iraqi attack.
Accused afterwards of being a Tsahal officer and of being subjected to a double allegiance, Mr Emanuel pointed out that he had not served in the uniform. In fact, according to our information, he would be a member of Amal, Tsahal’s military intelligence service.

The most specific information I've seen about Rahm's service in Israel was that he volunteered through an organisation called Sar'el which frees up actual IDF soldiers for service (bulldozing and ransacking homes, shooting shepherds and children, bailing up pregnant Palestinian women and dying cancer patients at checkpoints until they either drop or die, you know, the real stuff) by assigning menial tasks to volunteers, but I can't remember where I saw it.

I assumed he was referring to this AFP.

#0000ff">"Never does he mention all of the other groups who are skeptical of Rahm Emanuel including Obama's black constituents, the worldwide anti war and peace movements, the worldwide anti-Zionist movement, the Armenian community (still slighted over Congress refusing to recognize the Armenian Holocaust), America's pro-2nd Amendment community, civil liberties organizations, and finally Democrats and Republicans alike who feel that Emanuel is too much of a partisan DC insider."

100% of American-Armenians have given their votes to Obama due to his continious promises to recognize the Armenian Genocide. I recently read that there has never been such a one-sided vote for a candidate among the 1.5 million Armenians across the US. In addition, Joseph Biden has been a strong supporter of the Armenian issues for many years, up to the point where he openly admitted that he is the strongest supporter of the Armenians in Washington. I recently spoke to one of the representatives of the Armenan community in Washington DC, and he stated that the amount of support they got from Obama/Biden was 100% to their surprise. He claimed that even if they got 10% of it, they would have been happy, since there has never been such a strong support from a candidate towards the Armenian genocide issue due to its complicity because of the constant blackmail by the Turkish government.

What is interesting is the recent paranoia across all Turkish newspapers when it comes to the 'so-called Armenian Genocide' as they like to call it. Up to the point that Tayyip Erdogan, the PM of Turkey, did not waste any minute and flew to Washington DC to meet with the queen of all the Zionists, Madelina Albright! I wonder what went on in that meeting, since Madeline Albrigh is very anti-everything when it comes to Russia, and Armenia is a close ally of Russia. In addition, it was Albright and Cohen (the other Zionist in Clinton's administration) who openly stated that the Holocaust was more traumatic, than any other Genocides, and that the US values its close relationship with Turkey. Erdogan really knew who he should be talking to when it came to making sure that there will be no recognition of the Armenian Genocide by the US.

Now....the fact that Obama has surrounded himself with so many Zionist Jews is very troubling. Even though Biden has been a close friend of the Armenians for many years now, his statement for some Jewish newspaper/TV about how one doesn't have to be a Jew to be a Zionist also shows that the Jewish interests will be the priority in the coming administration. Although Obama promised many, many times that he will recognize the Genocide, the fact of the matter is that his Zionist friends might not allow him to do so even if he wants to recognize it. I guess the time will tell, but I am afraid that all these Jews in his administration will not want to have the Holocaust in the backseat over the recogntion of the Armenian Genocide, as it will certainly make big headlines across the world after so many years of trying to get it recognized.

One could only hope that if the US wants to piss off the Turks for some kind of a political reason, for example, for the fact that Turkey ran to Russia right after the events in Georgia knowing very well that it was a US staged invasion of S. Ossetia, or the fact that the Turks blocked some US/NATO ships for entering the Black Sea, the US administration might use the Genocide for its own political goals. Just as the EU is using the Armenian Genocide against the Turkish entry into the EU.

Of course, the EU could care less about the Genocide, as the EU states could have done things to prevent the mass killing of 1.5 million Armenians back then, but in order to make sure that Turkey won't get into the EU, they have stated that the Turks MUST recognize the Armenian genocide before their entry into the EU, knowing well enought that it would keep the Turks away from the EU for a very long time to come as it won't be recognizing the Genocide anytime soon.

Although no human suffering should be used for political means & ends, but it's been such a long road for the Armenian in the US to recognize the event as a Genocide, that I'm sure that only few of them could care whether or not it's being used as a political tool agains the Turks, as they all want to get it recognized for once and for all.

Aipac's Man in the Obama Camp (extract)

Phil Giraldi, AntiWar.com, Nov 18 2008

Emanuel left the Clinton administration in 1998 and went to work for Bruce Wasserstein, a major Democratic donor and head of the Chicago investment bank Wasserstein Perella. He made $18 million in a little over two years. He was deliberately placed in a position where he could exploit his White House connections, which he did, to obtain a nest egg to finance his political career.
