Oh, c'mon now. Just because when Rubashkin was arrested, he had 20,000 in cash in a travel bag along with other vital documents means nothing.

Everyone knows that Lubavitchers like Rubashkin follow their most holy book, the Talmud and the Talmud forbids lying to us GOY, right? Right?

Besides, 'ol Ruby was going to use all of that cash for...uhh... for.. mmm... to donate to charity, yeah, that's right. Ruby was going to personally deliver that cash to a charity... in Israel.

Feds Argue Return Law Makes Jews Flight Risk

In a legal argument called “astounding and very troublesome,” a federal prosecutor has argued that Israel’s Law of Return makes American Jews a flight risk and therefore ineligible for bail.

The claim, believed to be unprecedented, came in the bank fraud case of Sholom Rubashkin, the former Jewish head of the embattled Iowa kosher slaughterhouse, Agriprocessors, Inc.

And the federal judge in the case, Magistrate Jon Stuart Scoles, cited the Law of Return in his Nov. 20 decision denying Rubashkin bail.

“Under Israel’s Law of Return, any Jew and members of his family who have expressed their desire to settle in Israel will be granted citizenship,” the judge wrote, adding that the government had claimed that at least one other Agriprocessors’ defendant had already fled to Israel.

Deborah Lauter, director of the civil rights office of the Anti-Defamation League, said the prosecution’s “referencing the Law of Return is highly unusual.”

Marc Stern, acting co-executive director of the American Jewish Congress, called the move “very troublesome.”

“All Jews are suspect because of the Law of Return?” he asked. “It’s a very astounding and troubling argument. It’s different from saying he might run to Israel — whether or not there is a Law of Return.”
Stern said the government’s argument is “probably impermissible, but it’s hard to say without being more closely involved. ... I think it’s an argument that’s too aggressive and I think they need to justify it by evidence that I can’t imagine them producing.”

.... noted that when they argued that position in court, the office of U.S. Attorney Matt M. Dummermuth countered by insisting that the extradition process “could take years.” And the prosecutor also introduced a copy of the Law of Return.

The defense attorneys said their research “has not uncovered a single instance involving a Jewish criminal defendant where the prosecution invoked the Law of Return in support of detention.”...

What about this case?

Sheinbein, wanted for murder, will be indicted and placed on trial in Israel after the High Court of Justice last week ruled that the U.S. extradition request may not be honored due to an Israeli law barring the extradition of Israeli citizens to stand trial abroad.

In their request to deny bail after his second arrest in November — he had been arrested in October on charges alleging that he hired illegal workers for his plant — prosecutors noted that Rubashkin had $20,000 in his home, much of it in a travel bag that also contained his birth certificate and his children’s passports; he has 10 children. He and his wife surrendered their passports after Rubashkin’s first arrest.

One of Rubashkin’s lawyers, Baruch Weiss of New York, acknowledged the cash was in the house but said that much of it was in one-dollar bills that had been collected for charity. And he said the rest was used to pay expense. He noted that a $1,700 car bill had recently been paid in cash.

That means that 5.3 million Americans would be viewed as heightened bail risks simply because they are Jews.”

They pointed out that would include Attorney General Michael Mukasey, Homeland Security head Michael Chertoff and two U.S. Supreme Court Justices, Steven Breyer and Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

In their papers, the defense lawyers said the extradition treaty the U.S. has with Israel “has always been workable,” and that after recent amendments it is “now better than workable.”

In addition, the defense lawyers said that by denying Rubashkin bail, the court was denying him the constitutional right to equal protection.

“Jews are a protected class for Equal Protection purposes,” they wrote. “Thus, singling Jews out in any way when determining bail is unconstitutional...

Why these people just LOVE America and her people. Just look at all the neat stuff they've given us recently, like junk bonds, the 1980's collapse of the S & L's and the collapse of the mortgage industry timed just as they were looting Wall Street. And a looooonnnggg list of felonious types who've been robbing pension funds and cheating stockholders, all the while sending most of that loot to Israel.

They wouldn't flee just to avoid prosecution, would they?

Ex-managers at plant may have fled, officials say November 22, 2008

Federal agents bearing a fresh indictment arrested one Agriprocessors Inc. supervisor Friday, but officials said they suspect that two others have fled to Israel.

Former poultry-line managers Hosam Amara and Zeev Levi were named in the new indictment, but their whereabouts were unknown, officials said. A spokesman for the U.S. attorney in Cedar Rapids said investigators suspect both men are now in Israel.

During a related court hearing Wednesday, prosecutor Peter Deegan told a judge that he strongly suspected Amara was in Israel. Deegan said Amara contacted associates in the United States as recently as this week.

The new indictment adds immigration-related felonies and a second bank-fraud charge to the previous counts filed against former company executive Sholom Rubashkin, 49. He now faces up to 107 years in prison if convicted on all the federal charges. Rubashkin has been in jail since his arrest last week.

Maybe they'll follow in the footsteps of the murderer, Samuel Sheinbein. Sammy carved up and murdered an American teenager and fled to Israel when authorities closed in with an arrest warrant.

Lucky for Sammy, Israel courts didn't view his murder of an American with the same severity US courts would have, giving a light sentence and took some of the sting out of the sentence by letting Sammy immediately have conjugal visits and making him eligible for parole in 2013.

Conjugal visits? The only conjugating Sammy would have gotten in an American prison was the after midnight visit to his jail cell by some 300 pound sexual psychopath, who would've "conjugated" Sammy till he bled... and he gets furloughs from an Israeli prison? WTF?

Israeli Court Sentences Sheinbein to 24 Years

An Israeli court sentenced convicted murderer Samuel Sheinbein to 24 years in prison yesterday, saying the Maryland teenager had displayed "cruelty, wickedness and malice" in killing Alfredo Enrique Tello Jr. in Montgomery County two years ago.

"In light of his age, and in light of the severity of his actions, the defendant therefore deserves a severe and deterring punishment," Goren said.

Sheinbein will be eligible to apply for furloughs of 24 to 96 hours beginning in 2003 and to apply for parole in 2013, when he is 33. He is also eligible for conjugal visits immediately. There was no immediate decision on where Sheinbein will be imprisoned.

If he had been tried in Maryland, as both Israel and the United States wanted, he would have faced a maximum punishment of life in prison.

The sentencing concludes a two-year legal odyssey that began when Sheinbein, then 17, killed Tello, dismembered his body with a power saw, burned his torso and stashed it in an Aspen Hill garage near Sheinbein's home.

Luckily for Sammy, that noted American patriot, Harvard Law Professor Alan Dershowitz, was on his side.
