After reading about Zaidi, do you truly think he would be in on a staged incident to help Bush?

Al-Zaidi was then pulled to the floor[14] by another journalist,[15] before being grabbed by Prime Minister Maliki's guards, kicked, and rushed out of the room. White House spokeswoman Dana Perino was hit in the face by a microphone boom sent flying by a presidential bodyguard resulting in a clearly visible black eye.[16]

According to witnesses, al-Zaidi was "severely beaten" by security officers after he had been dragged out of the room following the shoe-throwing incident.[21] As the man's screaming could be heard outside, Bush said "That’s what people do in a free society, draw attention to themselves."[12] A "large blood trail" could be seen on the carpet where al-Zaidi had been dragged by security agents.[22][23] One of his brothers said that a police officer, who picked up al-Zaidi's cellphone, had threatened the family.[21] The United States Secret Service and the Iraqi Police helped take custody of al-Zaidi.[24] Al-Zaidi was tested for alcohol and drugs, and his shoes were confiscated as evidence.[25] Al-Zaidi was interrogated by Iraqi and U.S. agents to ascertain whether anyone paid him to throw his shoes at Bush.[26] In an interview to the BBC, his brother, Durgham al-Zaidi, reported Muntadhar al-Zaidi as having suffered a broken hand, broken ribs and internal bleeding, as well as an eye injury.[7] Durgham al-Zaidi said to al Jazeera that his brother was tortured.[27] Al-Baghdadia TV said that al-Zaidi was "seriously injured" during his detention.[27] However, a different brother, Maitham al-Zaidi, spoke with Muntadhar on the phone and was told: "Thank God I am in good health."[28]

Th at is a very good question. I think that national psyches are fragile and sometimes need rally points. This certainly a feel good story for those that rabid anti-busher. I would say psychological effects could be one answer. Another is to create the appearance of presidential vulnerability.My proof was the slow reaction on behave of the secret service time- 12 seconds. It could be a good old fashion Military Pysop. 1. Maliki's expression and action, or lack of to the first shoe is actually legit. When one is in a state of surprise, or taken off guard, one does not react quickly at all. The person's face is usually a blank stare. Same with people in shock. Their brain refuses to believe something is happening. So they do not react properly to the situation.
2. If Maliki had reacted with quick dramatic flare then it would have been staged.

Muntader al-Zaidi, the Iraqi journalist who threw his shoes at President Bush, appeared before a judge today in Baghdad and admitted to “the action he carried out.” Reuters reports that “the court decided to keep Zaidi in custody” and that after an investigation is completed, “the court may send him for trial under a clause in the Iraqi penal code that makes it an offense to attempt to murder Iraqi or foreign presidents.” Abdul Satar Birqadr, a spokesman for Iraq’s High Judicial Council said that al-Zaidi faces up to 15 years in prison.
Update: Asked today by CNN's Candy Crowley whether or not Al-Zaidi would be released, President Bush said, "I don't know what they're going to do - he's - I’m not even sure what his status is. They shouldn't overreact."
