Larry David sounds like an addict (e.g. liberal use of vulgarity is one clue - he needs to have a few more behaviors to qualify).
Addicts of any culture will often engage in this type of verbal display. I work with some "hard partiers" - aka alcoholics (not Jews) - HR had to put up some signs in the employee lounge area prohibiting vulgarity because of their tendency to drop s and f bombs every couple of minutes or so. Others had complained.
I can't agree that the cosseted blue rinse crowd represents the US in some more genteel time. The ones I've run into tend to live in their own little world shielded from reality - Reagan Republicans. Most don't have a clue.
Someone in there should have had the cajones to tell David to put a lid on it or leave. Danson is not going to because David is sitting on his paycheck.
