Inside Story Americas - Paid to support Iranian terror group?

For years, high-profile former US officials have backed the Iranian group Mujahiden-e Khalq despite being listed by the US as a terrorist organisation. What lies behind the open support? Guests: Glenn Greenwald, Reza Marashi, Patrick Clawson.

Comments

Endless lies and hypocrisy.

Patrick Clawson is with the Washington Institute for Near East Policy, a pro-war propaganda mill. Clawson says the MEK is not a terrorist organization.

Glen Greenwald says the MEK is on the terrorist list. Therefore the Washington bureaucrats are committing felonies.

Clawson says the bureaucrats are exercising their Constitutional rights. And yet for Clawson, to publicly speak in favor of any other designated terrorist group (other than the MEK) is to give “material support to terrorists.”

Greenwald says that everything Clawson claims has also been claimed by Muslims who have been charged with supporting terrorism.

Clawson panics and tries to shout Greenwald down. He says that Greenwald, as a civil rights lawyer, should support the MEK (but not Hamas, Hezbollah, or any other group on the terrorist list). Clawson says we don’t put Obama in jail for assassinating people, so why should we consider the MEK to be terrorists?

And yet Clawson agrees that everyone else on the terrorist list belongs there.

Greenwald says law should apply equally to all, so why give an exception to people paid by the MEK?

Clawson responds, “I don’t know who’s paying them to speak.” (!!!!)

Greenwald says the same reasons why the MEK should be taken off the terrorist list apply to all other groups on the list. The law should apply equally to all.

Clawson agrees that many groups should actually be taken off the list, but says that only the MEK should actually be taken off the list.

That was all the garbage I could tolerate. I didn’t watch the last five minutes.
