In Libya, at least 11 people have been killed and scores wounded after militia linked to the defence ministry shelled Bani Walid - a former stronghold of late Colonel Gaddafi. The country remains close to chaos following the Western-backed armed rebellion last year that toppled the nation's long-time dictator. RT talks to Libyan political activist Ali Alkasa.

Re: 'Libya in chaos, divided as never before'
I would like to call the people of Bani Walid “Gaddafi loyalists,” or the “Green Resistance,” but this would be false. This is a feud between the Misrata tribe and the Warfalla tribe. They have always feuded, but the youth of Misrata, being bored, restless, and unemployed, decided to go to Bani Walid and have some fun.
They want to take Bani Walid (and kill everyone in it) on or before the Eid al-Adha holiday on 26 October, which celebrates the willingness of Abraham to sacrifice his son Ishmael to a psychopathic Jewish God. (Muslims traditionally slaughter sheep for this festival. Strange how Muslims revere Jewish Old Testament bullshit.)
The Misrata killers can’t approach the town, since they are instantly cut down. Yesterday a couple of dozen got too close. Five were killed and 19 wounded.
So they sit in a small town called Bir Dufan, taking pot-shots with grad rockets at Bani Walid, 37 miles to the southwest. (Grad rockets have a 250-mile range. The Misrata killers fire about 30 a day. Evidently some rockets have chemical warheads, since victims in Bali Walid hospitals suffer from breathing difficulties, spasms and vomiting. Yesterday one of the rockets killed 11 people in Bani Walid.)
Some media outlets claim that Bani Walid flies the black flag of the mythical Al Qaeda!!!!
Libya’s President of the General National Congress, Mohammed Magarief, is trying to persuade the Warfalla tribe of Bani Walid to surrender to the Misrata tribe (so the latter can execute them en mass, as they did in the town of Tawarga, and many people in Sirte.)
Fat chance.
As for the rest of Libya, they do not approve of the siege of Bani Walid. They just want their lives back (which they will never get). The USA could send in drones and Special Forces to crush Bani Walid, but prefers to let Libyans kill each other.
Incidentally the Warfalla tribe has a million members, of which only a tenth are in Bani Walid. Likewise the Misrata tribe is not limited to Misrata. Hence, Libyans fear a nationwide civil war. The “gangs and militias” are tribal.
For the USA, all is well, as long as foreign corporations continue to extract the oil unmolested. Let Libyans kill each other.
Also, many Black Africans who could not escape during NATO’s attack have taken refuge in Bani Walid. The Misrata tribe want to kill them too.
I like how RT echoes the Western corporate media propaganda, referring to the “Western-backed armed rebellion last year.” There was no “Western-backed armed rebellion.” Libya is not Syria. Instead, NATO bombed Libya to destruction. The “rebels” simply moved in afterward, looted whatever they could, and murdered anyone left alive.
RT also calls Gaddafy a “longtime dictator.” This is only one example among many. RT is either stupid, or else it is secretly supported by the West as a “alternative” that isn’t really an alternative.
